To Begin A Quintet

The first thing that you will need is of course players. Even you don't have any songs, you can a least still call yourself a quintet. If a lucky enough to find a Conductor with a good background in music, great, but keep in keep in mind that it is not nesseccary.

The next thing you will need is a place to practice. Sorry, We can't help you out there, you'll have to find your own place.

Once you have a group and a place to practice, you will need music. Now finding brass quintet music can be hard, and possibly expensive. So we have provided a few songs to get you started. If there is a song that you would like to play, but can't find it for a brass quintet, please e-mail me at barron_crawford@hotmail.com. Some songs however just would not work for a brass quintet, such as "I will Survive." To play that song, you would need a minimum of two trumpets, drums, 2 alto saxes, 2 tenor saxes, a baritone sax, and 2 trombones. (please don't ask me to arrange anything other than Brass quintet music). But a lot of Hymns would work very well with a Quintet.

Just a reminder, that to use any of the songs on this website, you will need a music writing program such as Cakewalk, or MidiSoft. This software is supposed to be able to print midi's but I haven't tried it out myself

Music Program (3mb)

ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT THE FILES ON THIS SITE HAVE ALREADY BEEN TRANSPOSED. THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO SOUD FUNNY! IT'LL WORK WHEN YOU PLAY IT ON YOUR INSTRUMENTS. TRUST ME!

As an option (a highly recomended option) you should look around for places to perform. Try local churches or youth groups. You shouldn't ask for or accept money because all you really want is experience right? But really, you won't get many places that will be willing to pay youths.

You should also try and practice in as tight of a formation as possible, so when you do perform, you'll be used to it.
